Our Disneyland Adventure - Day 1

After all the craziness of the last few months, we were ready for a getaway. Fortunately, a couple of months ago we booked a trip to Disneyland. When we booked it we had no idea how ready we would be to go. On Thursday morning we got up and flew into Long Beach. On this trip, we stayed at a hotel right by Disneyland and didn't get a rental car. To get to our hotel we used Lyft. A few of Alison's friends drive for Lyft in Salt Lake and love it. We were a little nervous about how it would work, but it was awesome. We got our luggage and requested a ride on Alison's phone. Our driver was a guy named Steve. He came and picked us up in his Scion and took us directly to the hotel. He was so friendly and it was a crazy good deal. We would totally use Lyft again. Once we got to our hotel we dropped off our stuff and headed right over to Disneyland.

Walking into Disneyland is always a lot of fun. Disneyland might be Alison's favorite place in the whole world. She loves it, and I love being there with her. Walking into Disneyland is really like you stepping out of the world and into a magical kingdom. When we go to Disneyland Alison completely disconnects - she puts her phone in a drawer at the hotel and leaves it there. That way we can spend our vacation together, without work and other distractions.

The first walk of the trip down main street USA is always special. It is such a fun place. We walked around the park trying to decide which ride to go on first. We ended up riding Splash Mountain, which is one of our favorites. The big drop always gets us.

While wandering around the park we met some really nice people. We got gumbo for lunch, and while we were eating a man asked if we could watch his table while he went to grab his kids. We agreed to help. When he came back he said, "you guys are Mormon, I can tell." It turns out he was from Utah too. We had a nice time visiting with him and meeting his family.

While we were walking around we ran into two different people who gave us their fast passes. It was so nice! One of the fast passes was for Star Tours. We weren't planning on going on Star Tours because the last time we went to Disneyland it made us both motion sick, but we had fast passes and decided to go. I actually kind of liked it, but Alison still hated it and vowed to never go on it again.

After some rides, we needed a break. We headed over to Main Street and got some hand-scooped ice cream. It was great. While we ate our ice cream we watched Mickey's Soundsational parade. It was full of characters and music. The parade is a lot of fun.

After the parade, we rode a lot more rides. We enjoyed some of the Fantasyland rides including the merry go-'round and the teacups. We love all the rides at Disneyland, even the kids' rides. Disneyland brings out the kid in both of us.

Even though it looks like Alison is having a lot of fun
the teacups are not her favorite ride.
Traveling and then running all around Disneyland makes for a long day. Before it got too late we decided to call it a night. We knew we had time and we wanted to get up early so that we could enjoy being at the happiest place on earth.
