Tuesday FINALLY got here!

Today was the long-awaited day to come to NYC.  We woke up, packed, picked up Bret, and headed to the airport.  Kristin, Dan, and Skylee beat us to the airport.  The Little Miss was SOOO cute and snuggly. I just love that little girl.

While we were waiting for our flight, Kristin noticed Ann Romney waiting to board a plane.  Kristin, Sylee, and I went over and talked to her for a minute. We told her we were huge Mitt fans and that we read her cookbook.  She was kind as can be.  Hopefully, Mitt runs again in 2016.

The flight was pretty uneventful.  Eric and I both watched movies on our iPads and then Dan brought Skylee to us towards the end of the flight.  We had fun snuggling her on the flight.  She kept standing on my lap and watching the person who was sitting in front of me.  It took us a bit to figure out that they were playing a game on their iPad and Skylee was watching.  Eric flipped on Angry Birds and Skylee was content to watch the birds fly.  It was really funny.

When we landed, Eric and I took the subway into the city.  I usually HATE taking the Subway in, but it's faster (and cheaper) than taking a cab, especially during the evening Rush Hour.  Eric and I hoped that we would make it to the city in time to see a show, so we were going as fast as we could.  We had to transfer trains once and the station seriously had like 7 flights of stairs we had to climb with our bags.  We made it to our hotel around 7:30 and booked it to Times Square to try to get show tickets.

We made it to the TKTS booth at 7:42 and got tickets to Pippin.  Times Square was over-run with Ferguson protestors.  I don't think I've ever seen that many NYPD in one place at a time.  There were streets shut down and the police said if people continued protesting, they would arrest everyone for disorderly conduct.  It was pure craziness.  Fortunately, we didn't have time to stick around (and we certainly wouldn't have even if we had the time) and literally RAN to the theater.  We made it to the theater at 7:55 and made it to our seats by 7:59.

Pippin did not disappoint.  It was one of the most unique and interesting shows we've ever seen.  There were several acrobatic sequences that reminded us of Cirque du Soleil.  It was amazing to see on the stage.  In addition, the story was hilarious - we were laughing through the entire show.  One of the most interesting things about this show was the audience involvement.  The actors were talking to the audience throughout the show and at one point we even had a sing-along.  The story was all about finding meaning and fulfillment in life and in the end, Pippin finds that he doesn't need an extraordinary life to be happy and that sometimes an ordinary life can be extraordinary. It was great.  We would definitely see the show again.

Oh, it's time to start livin'
Time to take a little from this world we're given

Time to take time, cause spring will turn to fall

In just no time at all...
-Pippin

After the show, we headed back to our hotel but stopped for dinner first.  With the craziness of the day, we literally hardly had time to eat anything at all so we were STARVING by the time we finally ate.  We got some NY pizza and then headed back to our room.  We can't wait to see what the rest of this trip has to bring!
