Playing House

Last weekend Kristin and Dan went snowmobiling in Yellowstone so Eric and I got to watch little Skylee Dallas all weekend.  It was the best.  Eric picked her up on Friday afternoon from my Mom's and we brought her to our house for a little bit.  She met CC and she was friendly as can be.  She kept saying "hi CC" and meowing at her.  CC was hiding under the bed so Skylee kept laying down to try to see her.  It was really precious. CC didn't warm up to Skylee over the weekend - maybe next time we will get her to be friends with Skylee.

We had made plans to hang out with our friends from the accounting program on Friday night. Kyle and Sarah have two little boys that Eric and I like to hang out with so we thought Skylee might like them too.  Skylee Dallas was really shy when we first got there, but she quickly warmed up when she saw all the toys.  She loved playing with the toys and the books and had so much fun with the other kids.  Kyle and Sarah got their boys a mini trampoline for Christmas and Skylee loved jumping on it.  It was seriously precious - we had a wonderful time.

Skylee fell asleep on the way back home so we put her right in her crib when we got home and she went right to sleep.  Saturday morning Eric and I went to the gym so we dropped her off at my parent's house early in the morning and headed out.  Holy moly - getting out the door with an 18-month-old baby is an adventure, but we made it!  After the gym, my Mom brought her back to our place and we went to a pancake breakfast at the church with our primary kids.  Our primary kids are adorable - we love teaching the 5-year-olds this year!  Skylee ate a pancake and then we brought her back home.  She was getting restless so we found a show called Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood on Netflix.  Skylee really liked the music and kept dancing.  It was really cute.

At one point she decided to climb the wall - she's clearly enjoying it
Saturday afternoon we mostly hung out at Kristin's house.  Skylee took a nap, and I did too.  It was nice.  When she woke up we played with toys and then ran a few errands.  We fed her cereal for dinner - she's very independent and likes feeding herself.  It was awesome.  The dogs didn't mind when a few morsels of cereal fell on the floor that they could scoop up.  She went to bed without crying at all but woke up about an hour later.  Eric calmed her down and put her back in her crib where she cried for about 2 minutes and then fell right back asleep.  She's such a good baby.

Sunday morning we picked up Kristin and Dan's house, which was thoroughly covered with toys by this point, and then got all ready for church.  I may or may not have intentionally matched Skylee.

We were a few minutes late for church and there was a missionary farewell so there weren't many seats left in the chapel.  It was probably for the best because Skylee has never had to be quiet with us, so I don't think she would have done very well.  We sat down in the foyer and enjoyed sacrament meeting from there.  There was another couple with an 11-month-old baby that joined us in the foyer.  Skylee had a container with goldfish and the other baby wanted some.  She came over and I asked Skylee if the baby could have some snacks and Skylee emphatically said "NO."  She's clearly an only child.  I took a few of the goldfish and handed them to the other baby who enjoyed them.  Skylee then started sharing the goldfish.  It was really cute - she would get some out of the container and hand them to the baby.  It was really fun and Eric and I made some new friends in our ward!

We had sharing time after sacrament and of course, Skylee came with us.  By this time, it was her nap time so she was getting kind of fussy.  She wanted her own chair and got upset when one of the kids in our class took HER chair.  It was clear that she wasn't going to calm down so Eric took her out and they roamed the church.  They went to the back of the chapel and the other ward was practicing with their choir Eric said Skylee loved the music.

He brought her back to primary for singing time and she was really good - she really liked the singing.  About halfway through she came to me and I picked her up and she fell asleep in my arms.  I could have died it was so adorable.  She stayed asleep in my arms for the entire third hour and woke up right when church ended.

We brought her back to our place and fed her some rice Chex cereal.  We don't have a highchair or baby utensils so we put her on a chair and gave her a real spoon.  She was so good at eating her cereal - I was a very proud Aunt.  I was eating some applesauce and she kept saying "bite" so I was giving her applesauce and she loved it.  After a while, she didn't want her cereal and just wanted the applesauce.  Once it was gone, then she went back to the cereal.

We then took her to my parent's house for Sunday Dinner/Bret's Birthday Dinner.  She danced and played and then her parents came home.  She was so excited to see them.  Overall, we had a wonderful time with Skylee Dallas and would like for her parents to go out of town more often.  We loved babysitting!
