Take Me Out to the Ballgame

Today was a relaxing day in Florida.  We slept in a little bit and drove to Tampa to see the last Spring Training Game of the trip.  The Yankees played the Phillies and the lineup was very similar to what the starting lineup could look like on Opening Day.  Eovaldi is a new pitcher we acquired in the off-season and he was solid for 4 innings.  Didi Gregorious made a great play at Shortstop and Chase Headley hit a home run.  All-in-all it was a very exciting game!  The Yankees won 3-2 which means they won every Spring Training game we attended (not that it matters at all for the regular season).

Florida during the day is unbearably hot.  And half of George M. Steinbrenner Field is in the sun for the entire game.  Fortunately, we got seats in the shade to both of the day games so we were more comfortable.  However, today was especially hot so I got some fresh-squeezed lemonade.  Oh my goodness - so refreshing.  I could have died and gone to heaven.

At one point I ran to the restroom so Eric helped me keep score.  He's my sexy scorekeeper.

It will be a while before we come again because Spring Training is during the accounting busy season, but next time we come we need to get seats in the 200 level on the first base side to make sure we are in the shade again.

During the 8th inning, the stadium started to clear out so Eric and my Dad went and hung out behind the Yankees dugout.

After the game, Eric headed down by the dugout to maybe get a ball signed.  I was watching from afar and he got a ball signed by the Yankees number 2 prospect, Aaron Judge.  He was very excited!  We can add one more baseball to our collection.

Spring Training was definitely an adventure that we will treasure for years to come.  We love our Yankees baseball!

After the game we headed back to Orlando, stopping at an Italian restaurant for dinner.  It was yummy and then we headed back to the hotel.  We were pretty tired from our whirlwind trip so we decided to just hang out by the pool at the resort.  Florida evenings and nights are so pleasant.  They are the perfect temperature.  Eric jumped in the pool for a bit while I visited with my parents.  We ended up hanging out by the pool for a few hours just visiting.  After a while, we decided to explore the rest of the resort and it is so awesome.  Eric and I definitely have a few places we want to hang out at tomorrow evening!
