Where Has June Gone?

It is hard to believe that June is nearly halfway over. I don't know where the time has gone. We have been very busy, but it is still hard to believe how quickly the month has gone.

4th Anniversary

We kicked off June by celebrating our 4 year anniversary. We kept it pretty low-key this year. I cooked a nice dinner. I made crab cakes, parmesan rolls, risotto, and teriyaki salmon. I also baked, from scratch, a three-layer chocolate cake. It was so yummy. After dinner, we headed downtown to walk around temple square. This has become an anniversary tradition. As we walk we relive the memories of our wedding. Then we came home and watched our wedding video.

It is crazy to me that four years have passed. They have truly been the greatest four years of my life. Marrying Alison was the best choice I have ever made. We have shared so many incredible adventures, and there will be many more to come.

South Jordan Country Fest and HCT

That weekend we went to the South Jordan Country Fest. Alison has been wanting to try the Cupbop food truck. It serves delicious Korean BBQ. It did not disappoint. It was by far the best food truck food I have ever eaten. We will certainly be eating there again.

We also went hale center theaters production of the Little Mermaid. It was a fun show. We got our tickets a little late so we got tickets at 9am on a Saturday. It was a little early for a Saturday but well worth it. The production was great and the cast was so talented.

During the country fest, the South Jordan recreation center had a free-swimming day. Kristin invited us to come swimming with Skylee. We had a great time floating around the lazy river and playing in the water. Skylee was a little overwhelmed at first. When we were going around the river I told Skylee she could float like a turtle (she loves turtles right now) and that got her excited.

Bees games

Since it seems like it rained all of May we haven't had much of a chance to use our season tickets lately. The last couple of weeks we made up for it by going to as many bees games as we could. One game was rained out by an unbelievable thunderstorm. Another game was a surprise doubleheader. It started at 5:05 (the game was scheduled for a 6:35 start). They played a 7 inning game took a 45-minute break and then played another game. The second game really dragged. At one point Alison commented that the game was the longest game. A kid sitting near us turned around and asked if we knew it was two games. It was kind of funny. We also took Skylee to a game. Before the game, we took her to Rita's for some ice. It is one of our favorite treats. Skylee really enjoyed it. She would dance to the music and move all the way around the kid's table. It was so cute. At the game, she loved riding the safety train. It was a little rainy during that game so we didn't sit on the grass. Instead, we sat on the second level of the stadium with Jake and Meg. They also have season tickets so they come to a lot of games with us. It is just fun to be at the stadium.

Hiking

Between the rain and everything else we have been up to we have not done nearly as much hiking as we would have liked. We did finally get out this last Friday. Alison was planning to take a half-day off work, but work was crazy and we got a late start. Since we got a late start we decided to hike mount grandeur. This is one of our favorite hikes. June is the perfect time to hike it. Especially after the rain, it was so green. Because we got a late start it was pretty hot and there were a lot of flies. We were lucky it was beautiful and there were lots of wildflowers because we were dying in the heat. We made it to the top and for the first time ever no one else was there. We sat up there for a while enjoying the beauty that surrounded us. The descent was much more pleasant.

It has been a wild, fun, and busy start to the month of June. It will be exciting to see what other adventures June has in store.
