Brad Paisley Concert

Alison and I had a nice break from work and school this weekend. We went to the Brad Paisley concert. We don't go to concerts often, but we are both big Brad Paisley fans. When we heard he was coming to Utah on his "Crushin' It" tour we decided we better go.

We had a hard time deciding where to get dinner before the show. We drove around for a while before we decided to go to Joe Morley's. It is one of our favorite barbecue places. We really enjoy their brisket. Our favorite item is the mud pie. It is such a good dessert.

After dinner, we headed to Usana. I had never been there before and I didn't realize how far west it was. It is way out there. We were seated in the cheap seats out on the grass. We brought our picnic blanket and got a nice spot near the center of the venue.

Mickey Guyton and Justin Moore started the concert. We had never heard of Mickey Guyton. Her music was pretty good and she sang with a lot of heart. We like a few of the Justin Moore songs. I really like the song "Lettin' the Night Roll" and it was really great live. One of the coolest parts of the concert was when Justin Moore sang "If Heaven Wasn't So Far Away." He set it up by talking about the military service of his grandfathers and how much he misses them. It was a really touching moment.

We were of course really there to see Brad Paisley. He was awesome. He is a true entertainer. He used music, visual effects, and crowd interaction in a way that was masterful. He uses a large video board throughout the show and it was really cool. One of the really cool moments was when the large video board showed a "FaceTime" call with Carrie Underwood. It was definitely recorded, but it was still really funny and cool. We heard pretty much all of our favorites - She's everything, Whiskey Lullaby, Southern Comfort Zone, Beat This Summer, Perfect Storm, Ticks, Country Nation, Mud on the Tires, River Bank, American Saturday Night, Waitin on a Women, and Old Alabama. Brad came out and sang. One song rolled right into the next with hardly a break for hours. It was so much fun.

After hearing so many of our favorites Brad bid farewell to the audience and walked off stage. We were a little sad we didn't hear our favorite Brad Paisley song. We were packing up our blankets when Brad Paisley came back out for an encore. During the encore, he played "Then" which is our favorite song. It was our wedding song almost 4 years ago. It was a great way to end a great concert.

Now you're my whole life
Now you're my whole world
I just can't believe
The way I feel about you girl
We'll look back someday
At this moment that we're in
And I'll look at you and say
And I thought I loved you then

And I thought I loved you then
- Then; Brad Paisley
