Fall Fun

While I was in the Accounting program at the U Alison and I made a great group of friends. I went through the undergraduate program, recruiting, an internship, the MAcc, the CPA exam, and much more with this group. These shared experiences have built a strong bond friendship. During the past two months, we have each started our careers in public accounting. Despite our best intentions this weekend was the first time we have gotten together as a group for a while.

After work on Friday, we met up at Cornbelly's. This is one of my favorite October activities. Alison and I have come many times with many different friends. This year was easily our favorite. It seems like every year Cornbelly's gets bigger and better. This year it seemed like it doubled in size. At first, it almost felt too big, but as night came and we ran around with our friends it turned out it was just right.

Alison and I got there first and grabbed some dinner. We were hoping Cupbop (our favorite food truck) would be there, but it wasn't. Instead, we found a food truck called Kotako (by the creators of Cupbop). It was Korean Mexican food. I was a little skeptical, but Alison wanted to give it a try so I went with it. We both got kosadillas. They were one of the most interesting foods I ate, and it was really good. We would totally eat there again.

As we were eating the rest of our group arrived. It was great to be together again and get caught up with everyone. We went and watched the pig races, which are always a ton of fun. A flying dog show was new this year. It was a really fun show. The dogs did crazy things. At one point a trainer was holding a frisbee between her teeth swinging a dog, who was also hanging on with its teeth, around in a circle. It looked painful. They also had a contest to see how far out into a swimming pool each dog would jump. Those dogs could leap pretty far. The furthest once leap 27 feet! We went down the burlap sack slide, which the kids in the group really enjoyed. We also found our way through the corn maze. One of our other favorite activities was the corn shore. It was basically a giant sandbox filled with dry corn. It felt really good to walk around here. We all enjoyed throwing corn and burying each other. Kyle and Sarah's sons really loved the corn shore.

After a few hours of fun, we called it a night. We all said we need to get together again soon. This time we won't let so many months go by before we do it again.

This weekend was also the birthday of our niece, Ashtyn. She turned one. Charly and Ben put together a party for their "little pumpkin". The party was over at my grandparent's house. It was really nice. Charly and Ben put a lot of work into some fall decorations, and they had a healthy spread of treats to eat. Easily the most entertaining part of the night was Ashtyn's cake smash. She was not at all bashful about digging in. We were glad we got to celebrate this special day with our niece.
