Valentines is for Lovers

This was our ninth Valentine's Day together.  It's hard to believe we have been together for this long!  Last week was an incredibly stressful week for us. It was Eric's busiest week yet with the busy season - he didn't even get home until midnight one night. I caught a terrible cold and had to take two finals, so needless to say we were ready for a relaxing weekend!  Eric made plans at Christmastime for an incredibly romantic Valentine's Weekend.

Saturday morning we woke up and went to Jim's for breakfast. We both had omelets and potatoes, they were delicious! After breakfast, Eric had to go to work and I had to take a final.  It was not fun, but then we met up again in the afternoon to hang out downtown. We walked around City Creek window shopping for a while and then went to dinner at Ruth's Chris. We had ahi tuna with an incredible ginger sauce as an appetizer.  It was life-changing. For dinner, Eric had a New York Steak and I had crab cakes. We shared broccoli and lobster macaroni & cheese. It was all delicious! For dessert, we had a flourless chocolate cake.  Our table was incredibly romantic and intimate. It was a dinner for the books! After dinner, we went to Little America for the night. We watched a few episodes of the Blacklist, our new favorite TV show, and then went to bed.

This morning we slept in and then had grand plans to go to brunch at the breakfast buffet at Little America. Unfortunately by the time, we made it to the restaurant, there was a 30-minute wait. The coffee shop was also really crowded, so we decided to find brunch elsewhere.  Unfortunately, Market Street also had a really long wait. We decided to head to Jim's again, but while we were on the freeway we remembered that the Cheesecake Factory also has Sunday brunch so we headed there.  The brunch was alright. Eric had French Toast and I had a Belgian waffle. We also got a piece of cheesecake to bring home. It was so much fun to be able to spend the weekend together celebrating love.  We reminisced about previous Valentine's Days and just enjoyed spending time together.  I'm so grateful to have Eric in my life - he really is the best husband and treats me so well.  We have the same goals and we help each other reach them. We are a partnership in every way, and I am more in love with him than I was 8 years ago for our first Valentine's Day together.
