Walking Through our House

We are inching closer to the completion of our house. After Christmas, they enclosed the cold storage room and poured the cement that will be the floor of our porch. They also added on our front door.

On the inside of the house, many changes have been happening. A lot of the plumbing and electrical have been installed. They have also put bathtubs in the upstairs bathrooms.  We still stop by as often as we can. We actually noticed they initially installed the wrong tub in the master bathroom, but they caught the error and corrected it before we even had a chance to bring it up.

This is my favorite stage of homebuilding so far. I love that I can begin to see everything coming together. The day before our first official walkthrough I went by the house (Alison was feeling under the weather). I slowly walked through thinking about each room and looking at the little details. I wanted to make sure everything was the way we wanted it.

On Monday morning we woke up and headed over to the house before work. We met with our superintendent and Jane, our real estate agent. We walked through the house together, paying particular attention to the structural options and upgrades we agreed to. We also looked at all of the plugs and canned lights throughout the house. Everything was in order. Our superintendent told us that our house is about 50% done. We expect it to be move-in ready in 3 months give or take a week.

As of Friday, they have started to put the roof on our home. Hopefully, the snowstorm doesn't slow them down too much. We are so excited to see all of the progress and we are glad that it is getting closer to being completed!
