Progress Inside and Out

It has been a busy week at our house. After three weeks, where it seemed like almost nothing happened, this week there was a ton of progress. Last weekend they were finally able to finish putting on the roof. Our house has been ready for shingles for a while, but the weather was so stormy they couldn't finish it. As soon as the weather improved they quickly got the shingles on.

With the roof complete we knew it wouldn't be long until they started drywall. Right now is a particularly busy time for me at work. As a result, I don't usually go by the house every day anymore. On Tuesday I got off work at 7:30pm (a little earlier than usual). Since Alison was in class, I wasn't in a hurry to get home. I thought I would stop by the house. I was very glad I did. The outside of the house was covered with dry line wrap. I took a look inside and saw they were preparing to blow in the insulation and hang the drywall. Even though it was dark I had to try to get a picture to capture the progress.

 On Saturday we got to go and pick out our granite slab. This slab will be used for the countertop and the island in our kitchen. We had an underwhelming experience. We wanted to pick out our granite weeks ago, but the type of granite we chose was on backorder. Alison called this week and they said they finally had our selection. When we showed up there were only two options. We didn't love either one. The one we did like had a yellow spot near one edge. The other option was too dark. After considering other colors, and looking at any other potential options we decided to go with the slab with the spot. We had a very helpful and concerned sales lady, who said she will personally call the fabricator and see if they can work around the spot. We are hopeful the slab will work out.

After picking out our granite slab, we went by the house. It looks so good. They added posts on our porch and inside they are hanging the drywall. We are so excited! We walked through one of our neighbor's homes. Their home is almost done. It was fun to think that our house is only about a month behind theirs and that soon we will be able to say our house is almost done!
