Home Projects and Other Random Goings-On

Alison and I have worked on a few house projects over the last couple of months. One big project was our basement. When we moved into our house we piled anything that didn't have a place down in our basement. 

This picture is from the day we moved in and it only got worse from there. It was really bugging Alison for a long time so we finally made it a priority to get it all cleaned up. We have a large storage area under our porch. We bought a bunch of shelves from Sam's club and organized all the miscellaneous stuff that was down there (we got rid of a bunch of stuff too). Now everything has a place. That is really important to Alison and me. Everything we own should have a place and if it doesn't we will get rid of it. 

Our other big project was our bedroom and by extension our guest bedroom. We have been wanting a king-size bed for a while now, but we were waiting until it was in the budget. This month it was finally our top project so we purchased a bed. We bought a white storage bed from RC Willey and a matching dresser. We bought our mattress, pillows, and sheets from Purple. Alison did some research and really wanted to try Purple. They give you 100 days to see if you like it so it was pretty low risk. The only bad thing about buying Purple is that it took the mattress almost two weeks to get here. We had the bed after 1 week so we lived in our guest bedroom for a week while we were waiting for our mattress. 

We moved our old bed into our guest bedroom. I also purchased and installed a ceiling fan in that room. It has been really nice to have our guest and master bedrooms completed. We love our new purple mattress. 

We were pretty excited yesterday when the Yankees clinched a postseason spot. We bought a new Yankees flag that we will fly while they are in the playoffs. 

We have had a lot of fun with our pets lately. Tex has been growing up too quickly. He is so much fun. Lately, he has loved to play frisbee and has started to learn to play catch. CC has been her normal self - sleeping in every comfortable spot she can find.
