Weekend Getaway!

We are so blessed to have great friends in our lives.  We had a normal weekend planned and then on Thursday one of our dear friends texted Eric and asked if we wanted to use their family condo in Park City this weekend.  Of course, we didn't have to think too hard about it, and immediately said YES!  It was the perfect, relaxing weekend.

We headed up Friday afternoon and the condo was amazing.  There were 3 bedrooms and two bathrooms, so PLENTY of space for just the two of us.  It also had a full kitchen and a spacious living room.  We headed to the store and got groceries for breakfasts and snack foods, a movie from Redbox, and then headed back to the condo for a relaxing evening.  We ordered pizza from a local Park City place and watched movies all night - it was so nice.

Saturday we slept in, made delicious breakfast burritos for breakfast, and headed over to the Park City Mountain Resort for some fun.  One of Eric's 25 by 25 goals was to ride a zip line.  Eric's pretty afraid of heights so this was a big deal for him, and once summer ended we wondered whether we would be able to accomplish this particular goal.  Fortunately, this weekend was perfect for the goal. We first went on the Alpine Slide, which was fun of course, and then headed to the zip line.  It was AWESOME.  Eric loved it and I did too.  Our next adventure was the Alpine Coaster and that was also really fun.  We got to ride together and it was like a regular roller coaster, but surrounded by the gorgeous Park City mountainside.  It was great.

Our next stop was Park City Main Street, which is always fun.  We wandered in and out of art galleries and other shops before going to the Wasatch Brewery for lunch.  I ate here first with my family when we went to Park City, and then I took Eric back there last summer.  It's one of our favorites.  Eric had a burger and I had mac and cheese - delicious.

We headed back to the condo, gathered a few things, and then headed down to Millcreek Canyon to meet some of our friends for a campfire.  We have a great group of friends from the accounting program that we try to hang out with around once a month to help keep our sanity during the master's program.  Kyle and Sarah brought their little boys and they were so much fun.  We roasted marshmallows and made s'mores and woofums.  It was great.  (Sidenote - our car hit 30 MPG!  I love our new car.)

Afterward, we headed back up to Park City where we started a movie and fell asleep.  This morning we slept in again.  Eric had a few things to do for school so we finished watching Robin Hood and then got ready for the day.  We walked around the Canyons and started a hike, but didn't make it too far.  We discovered that hiking in Park City is actually not very fun and it's really hard to find trails.

We then headed over to the Olympic Park.  We LOVE Olympics so we had a great time wandering through the museum.  There were also a few skiers practicing their aerials into swimming pools, and they were fun to watch.

By this point, we decided it was time to head back home, so we cleaned the condo, packed our bags, and headed home.  Overall, it was a wonderful, relaxing weekend!
