Christmastime in Park City

This week has been a particularly long and challenging week. Alison has had so much on her plate between work and school it is stressful. Even though her program is designed for full-time working professionals that does not mean it is easy. The demands of this week were particularly daunting.

We really needed a break from it all. Thanks to the generosity of one of our dear friends we were able to spend Thursday night in Park City. It turned out to be the perfect day because it happened to be our 4 and 1/2 year anniversary. What better way to celebrate than to have a nice getaway at the swankiest hotel in Park City.

We both got off work a little early on Thursday and headed up. Alison played hooky at school so we really had no worries on Thursday.

We stopped at historic Main Street for dinner. Being a Thursday night before ski season has really begun it was eerily quiet. There were very few people around. Many of the shops were decorated for Christmas and there were some Christmas lights around Main Street that we enjoyed. Christmas is such a wonderful time of the year. We ate dinner at the Wasatch Brewery. This is our favorite place to eat on Main Street.

After dinner, we drove to our accommodations. We stayed at the Montage resort in Deer Valley. It is easily the nicest hotel we have ever stayed at. The service was impeccable. The room was very lavish. We even had our own fireplace, which we thoroughly enjoyed. The resort was beautiful. When we were driving to the resort it was dark and we enjoyed the many pine trees that were covered in Christmas lights. When we left the next morning we got a stunning view of the resort built into the mountainside. It was a really pretty drive this morning.

This was a quick getaway. We had to get up and head to work on Friday morning. It was so nice to have a night where we could leave our worries behind and just relax and spend time together.
