Baseball is Back

This is one of the best times of the year. The days are getting longer, the weather is warming up, the busy season is in the rearview mirror, and best of all baseball is back.

Opening Day is one of the most magical days in all sports. Opening Day for the Yankees was scheduled for Monday. Unfortunately, they were rained out, which meant we had to wait one more day before the start of the season. This was especially unfortunate because it meant Opening Day was on a night when Alison had school. It was just my luck that I had to work a little bit late that night. Next year we will have to have a proper opening day party.

I have very much enjoyed listening to and watching baseball this week. The Yankees have a fairly quiet offseason this year. They made a couple of significant trades, but they did not sign a single free agent. In the past few years, the Yankees have focused on developing talent through their farm system and becoming a younger team. I think this year the results of those efforts will really show. I am excited to watch this Yankees team. It is going to be a fun team to watch.

The minor league season also started this week. We had so much fun hanging out at Bee's games last year that we decided to get season tickets again. On Friday we went to our first Bee's game of the season. It was a beautiful night to be at the ballpark. The Bees really do have a special ballpark with the mountains in the background.

The Bees have added a few new concession options this year - Cupbop and Swig. We love Cupbop.

It was great to be back at the ballpark. We sat there enjoying the sights and sounds of the ballgame. This year we noticed the Bee's second baseman was a backup for the Yankees last year. It is always fun to see someone you recognize from the Major Leagues. The Bee's played well last night beating the Sacramento River Cats 6-4.

Being at the minor league ballpark put us in the mood for one of our favorite movies - Bull Durham. Few movies capture the essence of baseball as well. It was the perfect end to a baseball day.
