Waking Up in Vegas

Today was our last full day in Vegas. We slept in again today. Sleeping in is one of our favorite parts of vacationing in Vegas. There usually isn't much going on in the morning so it is not like we are missing anything. We love relaxing in Vegas.

When we got up we met up with Blake and Debbie. We walked over and got breakfast with them at the Paris. We hung out for a while before taking them to the airport. Yesterday we placed a bet on the Yankees game. We were planning to watch it in a sportsbook. That was before Big Mike had a complete meltdown, giving up 5 runs in the first inning. At that point, it was basically over (especially since the Yankees have had trouble scoring runs in the early season.) We didn't feel like sitting in a sportsbook to watch such a terrible game. We kept an eye on the game, but it never ended up being close. The Yankees lost 8-1. It was a bummer. We are now 0-3 when we have bet on the Yankees.

Before we took Blake and Debbie to the airport we stopped by our room to drop some stuff off. Debbie gave Alison her birthday gift. Alison never makes a list of things she wants for her birthday or Christmas. Every time Debbie asked her what she wanted Alison would reply with sugar cookies or a Koala. So Debbie got her a little stuffed Koala bear for her birthday!

After the airport, our next stop was Fremont Street. Alison had never been over to that part of town and wanted to check out old Vegas. It has a nostalgic feel that is a stark contrast to hanging out in the strip.

We wandered up and down Fremont street. We walked through a few of the Casinos until we found a blackjack table with a low buy-in. We played a few hands but ultimately lost. We also found some cheap virgin margaritas - they are Alison's favorite.

The weather took a turn for the worse in the afternoon. We had thought about heading back to the pool, but that wasn't going to work. Instead, we decided to put our heads in a vice. We went to a timeshare presentation with Hilton. Really all we wanted was the free gift. Alison was a little hesitant because our last experience was terrible. Today it went well - our sales guy was super chill and he wasn't high pressure at all. It didn't even end up taking much of our time, and we left with vouchers to pay for our dinner tonight and breakfast tomorrow too.

For dinner, we decided to try the Flavor buffet at Harrah's. We always talk about going to a Vegas buffet, but we never really feel hungry enough. Since we weren't paying for it we decided what the heck we should do it. It wasn't a great buffet, but it was fun, and I don't know what else we would have done tonight.

Tonight we came back to our hotel to relax for a while before going out to explore the strip at night. Vegas is pretty cool when it is all lit up, and we wouldn't want to miss the fountains at night.
