Progress

This week Alison received an exciting text from our sales agent telling us that we had a dig date. He wanted us to meet with our superintendent, Les, before the dig. So on Tuesday we drove over to our lot and met with Les. He walked through our house plans with us and we highlighted the changes we made to the base model of our house. He talked us through the home-building process. It was a very reassuring visit. He told us not to worry if we stop by and see a broken window (it is bound to happen at some point). He also explained that once they dig the hole for the foundation things will move really quickly until they put the cabinets/carpet in. At that point, progress will appear to slow down as they focus on finishing the details in our house. Perhaps the best part of meeting with Les was that he had the outline of our house drawn on the ground with blue chalk.

Les told us that they would dig the hole for the foundation within the next two weeks. We figured this would mean they would start closer to the end of the two-week window. We were really surprised when we drove by our lot on Friday afternoon and they were working on digging the hole. We were so excited to see some progress.

We went back on Saturday, took a few more pictures, and climbed down into the hole. We are so excited our house is underway!
