Happy Thanksgiving 2016

This year we spent Thanksgiving with Alison's family. Alison's parents graciously hosted, which was great for us because all we had to do was walk upstairs. This year Alison made rolls - they are easily her favorite thing to make. As always they were delicious. Alison's parents baked a turkey and smoked a turkey. The smoked turkey was so delicious. Nearly all of Alison's family was there. Her grandparents, Kent and Aleene, attended, all of her siblings (except Bret who was in Philadelphia), her parent's of course, her uncle Mark and Aunt Heidi (joined us from Alaska), and all of their children (except for Justin who was working), and Mark's friend Emmanuel traveled from Cincinnati to join us. It was a fantastic Thanksgiving! We enjoyed the delicious food and good company.

After dinner, Kent gathered the family together and paid tribute to his wife Aleene. Both Kent and Aleene have birthdays near the Thanksgiving holiday. Kent wanted to do something special to recognize all the love and support Aleene gives. He gave her a couple of gifts, but the really special part was the tribute he prepared. It was really touching.

The rest of the Thanksgiving weekend flew by too quickly. We spent time relaxing and finishing our Christmas shopping.

This year, as with most, our hearts are full of gratitude. We are especially grateful to have such a loving and supportive family. We are grateful that Blake and Debbie have opened their home to us while we not so patiently await our own. We are grateful that so much of the family could be gathered together to create memories. It truly was a great Thanksgiving.
