Christmas 2019

We had a wonderful Christmas this year. The festivities really began on December 23. Kristin and Dan came over for dinner and then we watched Thor. We are watching all of the Marvel movies together, in chronological order, to prepare for Halloween 2020. We are so excited.

After the movie Kristin and Dan took Holly home and Skylee stayed over at our house. Skylee has stayed with us for the past couple of years on December 23. It allows Kristin and Dan to prepare for Christmas Eve. We love spending the evening with Skylee. Santa's elves stopped at our house so Skylee woke up to some candy and a set of Christmas bows for herself and for Holly.

On Christmas Eve Alison and I planned an activity for her family. Part of our Christmas gift to them was to spend time as a family making chocolates at Just Add Chocolate.

After the chocolates, Skylee came back over to our house to help Alison do some Christmas baking. They made orange rolls for Christmas morning and dinner rolls for Christmas Eve dinner.

We had Christmas Eve dinner at Debbie's house. Blake and Debbie prepared a Prime Rib. We also had potatoes casseroles, rolls, and corn. It was a feast. We ate good food and enjoyed great company. After dinner, we had a little talent show - Alison, Aleene, and Skylee played the piano.

Before we called it a night Blake read The Night Before Christmas.

On Christmas morning we met at Dan and Kristin's house. We all exchanged gifts and ate orange rolls. This year I got Alison a new Patagonia coat. It was what she really wanted, but it almost went very badly because it turned out I forgot to have her wrap it so it was back at our house. When she opened the gift I thought was the coat, but it was a hoody, I realized my mistake. I ran back home as quickly as I could and threw the coat into a Christmas box. She loved the gift. We got many nice gifts, including some beautiful books and artwork. I got lots of Yankee gear and some Captain America socks. I also gave Alison a beautiful drawing of our house done by our very talented neighbor. When we had wrapped up opening all of the presents we had our traditional Christmas breakfast of Æbleskivers and breakfast casserole.

In the afternoon we went to a family party at my grandparent's house. They had so much delicious food. We enjoyed catching up with many members of my family. For Christmas this year my grandparents gave us a cutco knife to add to our growing collection.

We spent the evening watching a movie and playing games at Kristin and Dan's house.

Christmas this year was fun. We spend time with the people we love the most and are grateful for the many blessings that we have in our lives.
