Wild Water & Wheels

Our second day at Myrtle Beach was another great day. We took the morning a little slower. This vacation is about slowing down and relaxing. When we did get up the girls did some Country Heat dancing while I made breakfast. We had breakfast burritos today. They were delish. After breakfast we got ready and headed out.

Spontaneous dance parties have broken out a few times during the trip. Cake By The Ocean by DNCE has become the unofficial theme song of our trip.

Today we decided to visit a local water park. One of the perks of the hotel we are staying at is free admission to the Wild Water & Wheels water park. It was about a 20 minute drive from the hotel. I will be completely honest, Alison and I weren't really that excited about the idea of the water park, but we knew it would be a fun activity for our nieces. We figured we could go check it out and if we were bored we could always head back to the beach. It turned out Wild Water & Wheels is awesome. It is a large water park with so much for us to do. There were many water slides, a lazy river, a wave pool and a few kid play areas. There weren't too many other people at the water park, which made it easy to social distance.

We spent the entire day at the water park. We rode on all the water slides multiple times. There was a really good variety of types of slides. Everyone in the group, sans Holly because she is too little, enjoyed the tube slides. One that was particularly popular was the Dark Hole, which was a pitch black tube where you couldn't see the upcoming twists and turns. There were also a couple of speed slides, including one called the cliff jumper that simulated falling off a cliff. There was also a pair of monster drop slides that dropped us right into a deep pool. Another fun one was a set of four slides that require a special mat. Using the mat, we were able to race down head first. This water park really had it all. Skylee even said, "I hate to admit it, but this waterpark is better than Cowabunga Bay." That is really saying something for her. One of my favorite things was the wave pool. Periodically they would turn it on and giant waves would ripple through the pool. When that happened it was fun to grab a tube and float in the waves. Skylee also enjoyed the lazy river. Alison and I went with her and we were able to snag a three person tube. Skylee named herself the captain of our tube, but a mutiny occurred when she wanted to go through the right side of a tunnel and I steered us to the left. She was unhappy with me and needed us to go again so she could be the captain, without dissent. On our second go round she narrated the entire trip, kind of like a skipper on the Jungle Cruise. We had a fantastic day at the water park.

Holly was not happy her mom needed to use the restroom

When we were done at the water park we went back to the hotel and got cleaned up. While we were all showering/bathing the baby took a very short nap.

We had to get a picture of my Marvel beach shirt - it is Alison's fav! And is perfect for this vacation.

After we were all cleaned up we went to the beach and took some family pictures.

When we finished with pictures we walked to a nearby pier for dinner. There was a really funny incident walking to the restaurant. As we left the beach Skylee's shoe buckles were undone. We told her she needed to buckle them up because we had a long walk to the restaurant. Skylee didn't want to buckle them because she said it was hard. Kristin told her she needed to buckle them up. She sat down and buckled them. Right as she finished she said, "I told you it is a pain in the ass." We all busted up laughing and explained to her that she shouldn't say that. She responded that we say that, which we conceded was true. Kristin assured her she wasn't in trouble, but that it was a grownup phrase. It was such a hilarious moment.

For dinner we went to Pier 14 Restaurant and Lounge. They had a fairly long wait to be seated, which is less than ideal with the baby, but we decided to wait and the wait was a little less than we expected. The food was pretty good. We were able to get good seafood, which is a must when you are eating over the ocean. Alison had crab cakes, Dan had crab legs, and I had a blackened yellow-fin tuna steak. We all shared a basket of hush puppies. By the time we were done eating the baby was ready to be done for the day so we got her back to the hotel.

At the hotel Skylee and I started watching Iron Will. Then the adults played canasta before bed. It was another great day in Myrtle Beach.
