Our First House Update of 2023

December and January were a whirlwind of activity at our new home. The construction was in full swing and we were impressed by the progress made.

In December, the framing crew was hard at work on the minor details. Every time we stopped by, they were there putting the finishing touches on the framing. And while there were a few items left on their to-do list, the overall framing was fantastic.

As soon as the framing was done, the plumbing, HVAC, and electrical teams stepped in. We thought it would take a few months for the electrical work to be completed, but they moved quickly and finished by the end of January. We're now ready for the big 4-way inspection.

We also had the chance to meet with the low-voltage specialist to talk about our networking and low-voltage wiring needs. The Parkwood guy was amazing and was able to accommodate all of our requests. We're running network cables all over the house for a strong network and even outside for our Poe cameras. Plus, he helped us run low-voltage cables to each window for our future smart shades.

We also worked with the electrician to tweak some of the lighting and outlet locations to fit our needs. Building a semi-custom home means we get to be involved in all the little details, which is pretty cool.

We thought maybe the fast pace of construction would mean our home would be done sooner, but our builder confirmed we're still on track for a September 2023 completion date. He did mention that getting through the 4-way inspection can be a challenge right now, so we should expect it to take a few weeks. Despite the slowdown in progress, we're staying patient and eagerly watching the progress of our new home.
