Valentines is for Lovers 2019
2019 Valentine’s Day was on for the books! We decided to
have a pretty low-key Valentine’s Day since we were leaving on our cruise the
day after Valentine’s. However, Kristin and Dan went and saw Wicked on
Valentine’s and asked us to watch Skyee. We, of course, had to give Skylee a Valentine’s day to remember!
I picked Skylee up from her school around 4:30 and Eric met
us immediately after. We drove downtown and ate dinner at the Little America
coffee shop. This is one of our favorite restaurants downtown. It has delicious
food and there is rarely a wait! Eric had the American Clubhouse sandwich, I
had salmon, and Skylee wanted fish & chips. However, when our food arrived
she was much more interested in my fish than hers. Fortunately, the portion sizes
were quite large so I gave her a lot of my salmon. We both enjoyed it.
After dinner, we went to Tiffany’s to get Kristin a charm for
baby Holly. When Kristin was pregnant with Skylee I got her an “S” charm from
Tiffany’s that she wears often. We decided to take Skylee with us to get an “H”
charm for Holly. Skylee stole the show at Tiffany’s. They had an adorable setup for Valentine’s day with red, pink, and white candies and heart cookies.
Skylee enjoyed both the sweets and the cookies. Skylee told her mom it was a
special day and wore a gold dress with a darling blue dress coat and curly
hair. She looked so grown up. The lady helping us at Tiffany’s was so enamored
by her. Skylee enjoyed telling her that the charm was for “her” baby and told
her when the baby was coming – just before Skylee’s birthday! She then told the
lady how old she was and showed off her dress, shoes, and coat. It was
precious. The salesperson then offered her 4 different flavors of juice boxes
on a silver platter. Skylee selected the grape juice. Taking Skylee to
Tiffany’s was so much fun!
After Tiffany’s, we wandered over to the Disney store. Skylee
had fallen asleep just before we arrived at Little America and was a little
grumpy. To lift her spirits, we took her into the toy store at Little
America where she fell in love with this random purse. Eric appeased her by
telling her we wouldn’t get that purse, but we would go to another toy store
and she could pick something out. He decided to teach Skylee a lesson about
budgeting and told her she could get anything less than $10. There are limited
options at the Disney store that fit this budget and Skylee couldn’t find
anything she liked. After wandering the store for approximately 20 minutes I
told Eric to give in and we let her get Lady Stitch (whose name is actually
Angel. It’s a terrible name). I think it was Eric who actually learned a lesson
about budgeting on this trip.
After the Disney store, we went home and made a 4 layer of chocolate & red velvet cake. Skylee enjoyed helping us make the red velvet
cake. My parents came over to enjoy the cake with us. We didn’t wait for it to
cool enough and I was also losing patience with the cake so it ended up being
lopsided. We called it the Guggenheim cake because it kind of reminded us of
the Guggenheim museum in NYC. Despite the lopsidedness, it still tasted
delicious.
After the cake, we called it a night and tucked Skylee into
bed! We love it when she comes and stays with us – she is so much fun!
