A Relaxing Resort Day

When we first decided we wanted to come to Disneyworld, we knew it would be a different type of trip. With reduced hours and less fireworks and shows we thought it may be more relaxing than a normal Disney trip. Typically when we do Disney we start our mornings early and end our nights late and do a whole lot of running all day long. This trip we would have later mornings and earlier evenings, but still a lot of running and time on our feet. Since we were already going to take nearly an entire week off of work, we decided to just make it a full week and have a relaxing resort day in the middle of the trip. We have talked about how nice this would be in previous trips, but we were never willing to take the time before. Our time off work was always too precious. This year it worked. We already had time off scheduled from longer trips that we planned pre-COVID.

Tuesday morning we slept in and made delicious breakfast burritos and fruit for breakfast. We then got dressed for the pool and spent the morning lounging by the pool. It was a cloudy, but warm day. We spent some time in the pool cooling off and drank plenty of cold water to stay hydrated. We got hungry around lunchtime, so we ordered a curbside pickup from Panera Bread and enjoyed eating it on our patio. We ate nearly all of our meals outside on our patio, which was delightful. It was one of my favorite parts of the trip!

After lunch we headed back to the pool for more lounging and pool time. It was not particularly crowded at any point during our resort day. There were a few kids playing in the pool and a handful of other groups, but it was easy to spread out. We lounged by the pool until it was too hot and then we jumped into the pool. The water was cold, but if felt really good. We really loved hanging out in the pool on such a warm, Florida day! Around 4:00 PM we headed back to our room to shower and get ready for a fun evening. We went to Disney Springs, which was much less crowded than our last visit on Saturday. We really enjoyed walking through the stores and doing some shopping. We bought some honeycomb from the Savannah Bee Company. We first ran into this store in Myrtle Beach and absolutely fell in love with it. They offer delicious honey samples and have several different flavors of honey based on where the bees reside. Eric remembered enjoying honeycomb when he was growing up and his grandfather raised bees.

We also bought Eric a few pairs of socks from Stance. My favorite socks were Christmas Mickey socks that were on sale for $8! I told Eric that he had to wear them to every Christmas party we attended this year. He agreed because he doesn't think there will be a whole lot of Christmas parties happening this year.

For dinner we went to Chef Art Smith's Homecomin'. We first enjoyed this restaurant when we came to Disneyworld with Eric's grandparents in 2017. The hushpuppies and fried chicken are incredible! The portion sizes are a bit big for me, so I ordered the chicken biscuit appetizer. It was 3 decent sized sliders with biscuits and flavored fried chicken. It was delicious. I was only able to eat 2 and Eric enjoyed the third. Eric ordered the fried chicken meal and was also unable to finish it. The food was fantastic and I'm sure we will be back to Homecomin' next time we are in Disneyworld.

After dinner we found some Pumpkin Spice Gelato to enjoy and then headed back to the hotel. It was a fabulous day and our feet were grateful for the rest!
