Valentines Is for Lovers - At Home Edition

This is our 14th Valentine's day together. That feels really crazy. We kept our Valentine's day festivities simple this year and celebrated at home. We have spent a handful of those 14 Valentine's days apart, so it always nice when we get to spend the day together together.

This year the day was all about spending time together and eating delicious food. A few days before Valentine's we went to Caputo's to get some cheese and chocolate for a charcuterie board. We enjoyed the charcuterie for lunch while we played card games.

In the afternoon we took a nap and watched a movie. Then we worked together to make our Valentine's day dinner. We had seared scallops with brown butter and lemon pan sauce, oven risotto with crispy mushrooms and cauliflower gratin. It was an excellent meal. For dessert we enjoyed chocolate covered strawberries.

In the evening we went over to Alison's parents house. Her siblings also were over there. Skylee and Holly really willed a family party to happen. We visited and we shared our leftover Valentine's day treats.

It was a great Valentine's day spent with the people we love.

Originally we weren't planning to eat chocolate covered strawberries from Caputo's. We were supposed to have some of our favorite cookies from Levain bakery in NYC. I ordered the cookies to arrive on February 12, but there were some shipping delays and they arrived on the 15th. We invited Jake and Meg over to share the cookies with us (we owe our love of Levain bakery to them - they introduced us to these amazing cookies). We heated them in the oven for 5-10 minutes and then we partook. While they weren't quite as good as a fresh cookie in a bakery in New York they were pretty great.
