Dreamscapes

Because of our recent international travel we did not spend time with anyone, including our nieces - Skylee and Holly, for over a month. We really missed them. We made sure to spend some quality time with them this past weekend.

Skylee attended her friends birthday party so we had Holly with us on Saturday afternoon. We watched a movie, or as Holly would say "a moo". We also took her grocery shopping and went to a park near our house. She loved the park. At first she only wanted to go down the small slide, but once I took her down the big on a few times she started going on her own. It was a lot of work to climb up the big slide so Holly found a shortcut. There was a ladder at the base of the big slide. It was too big for her, but she would run over to the ladder and hold her hands above her head. I would then lift her up. Once I pushed her down the slide and she loved that. Then she would get up there and sit at the edge of the big slide and look at me and say "push". I would climb up and give her a push down the slide. We had a lot of fun with our little niece.

Saturday evening we met up with Kristin and Skylee at Wheeler farm. Rather than doing their normal Easter egg hunt, this year they had a fun scavenger hunt. We walked around with Skylee and Holly as they followed the clues and collected eggs. At the end they got a basket full of all kinds of goodies.

Holly went home with Kristin and Skylee came to our house for a sleepover. We stopped by Chick-fil-a for dinner. We chose Chick-fil-a because we wanted to try the new Butterscotch Crumble shake they are testing in the Salt Lake City market. We got a couple of them to share. It was a good shake, but I don't know if I would get it again over our favorite cookies and cream shake. It comes off very sweet at first. The more we drank the more the flavor grew on us. The straws were also a problem. Chunks kept getting stuck in the straws provided by Chick-fil-a. We had some thick straws at home that worked better.

After dinner we watched Bedknobs and Broomsticks. I loved this movie growing up and was excited to watch it with Skylee. She really got into it. She laughed as hard as I have ever heard her laugh during some of the final scenes. It was great to see her so happy.

On Sunday we had tickets to Dreamscapes. It is an art exhibit in downtown Salt Lake City, located at the Gateway mall.  Their description is: A world of dream realms, where immersive physical and digital artworks take you on an ethereal journey. I saw an ad for it and thought it might be something Skylee would like. When we first arrived we thought it might be kind of hokey, but it turned out to be quite interesting. Skylee did love it.

The exhibits were interactive so Skylee could touch/play with everything. There was lots of hand sanitizer available so we sanitized often.

There were a few rooms were people wrote notes about what inspires them or about their dreams. Skylee wrote she wants to be a singer and that people should follow their dreams.

When we were done at Dreamscapes we walked over to Caputo's downtown location. We ordered some sandwiches for lunch. They were very busy today so the sandwiches took a while. While we were waiting Alison had me give Skylee $5 and told her to go buy some candy. She went over to the candy counter and asked the cashier what she could get for $5. The cashier told her she could get two candies. Skylee picked a couple out. She ate one and she saved one to share with her parents.

All in all it was a fun weekend with our nieces.
