Belize Day 4 - Mahogany Beach Club

Today was a total beach day.

We had no real plans, which meant we could sleep in. This trip has been a really good opportunity to let go of all our stress and worries and relax and refresh. We have really taken advantage of that opportunity to refresh.

Once we were up we grabbed a leisurely  breakfast and packed our bag for the beach. Then we headed to the dock to catch the 10am boat. This boat was quite popular - they actually took two boats this morning. Once the boats were full they still couldn’t fit everyone. This caused some controversy for the people who weren’t able to make these boats. But eventually the hotel staff got it sorted and calmed everyone down. We were in the smaller boat and they warned us it was going to be quite bumpy since it is a fairly windy morning. It was pretty choppy, but we all made it.

At the beach club we found some loungers and relaxed. The first loungers we claimed were located in the shade, but that was a little chilly, so we moved into the sun.

We spent the morning relaxing and reading. As the afternoon approached I grabbed one of the paddle boards and took it out on the ocean. The wind had calmed a bit, but it was still pretty windy. This made paddling out tough and coming back in quick and easy.

We had a reservation for an afternoon over water daybed. So a little after noon we moved into our daybed. We love lounging all afternoon over the water. It is great.

We ordered some lunch. I had chicken fingers and Alison had fish tacos. They bring the food right to the daybed.

We ate and relaxed and read and enjoyed the afternoon. The beach club really cleared out today by 4-4:30. The weather kept getting better and better as the day progressed. It was a gloriously sunny day all day and the wind kept slowing.

Spending all day in the sun can have downsides and Alison did get sunburned. While it wasn’t the worst sunburn she has ever had, being sunburned isn’t fun.

We enjoyed another glorious sunset at the beach club and caught the last boat back at 5:30.

We headed to our room to refresh and put on real clothes to go to dinner. This was the first time since we arrived that we haven’t worn swim suits.

We had dinner reservations at Jyoto, a sushi restaurant at the Mahogany Bay Resort. It was average sushi. But it was nice to put on real clothes and have a dinner date night here in Belize.
