Belize Day 6 - Thanksgiving

We had a chill Thanksgiving in Belize.

We slept in this morning, or rather Alison slept in, and I lounged in bed until she was ready to get up and get breakfast.

My typical breakfast in Belize

After we ate we took care of a few administrative things. We had to get a Covid test so that we can fly home in a couple of days. They administer antigen tests right at the hotel. It was an easy process. We also made arrangements for transportation to the airport on Saturday morning. Our trip is quickly coming to an end.

We booked a couples massage. That was our next stop. It was so relaxing.

After the massage, we caught the 1pm boat out to the beach club. Today was easily the busiest day at the resort and the beach club. We are very glad we booked another afternoon overwater daybed so that we have somewhere nice to relax.

We spent another afternoon eating food, reading, and relaxing. It was fantastic. Today was an exceptional beach day. It was sunny and warm and the water was so calm.

The water was so calm that I took a break from relaxing and paddle boarded. The water was so smooth and clear. The whole area near the beach club is very shallow so I could see right to the ocean floor. I was on the lookout for sea life. I saw a jelly fish and a couple of big fish, but that was it.

At 4:30 the beach club really cleared out. Two boats full of people headed back to the resort. Then Alison and I were practically the only people still at the beach club. Alison grabbed a paddle board and joined me out on the water.

When we finished paddle boarding we spent a few more minutes soaking in the sun on our daybed. We watched quite possibly the best sunset of the trip before catching the 5:30 boat back to the resort.

We went to a little taco shack at the resort for our Thanksgiving dinner Alison had a chicken quesadilla and I had a steak quesadilla - both hit the spot.

It was an unconventional Thanksgiving. It was perfect for us. We each spent the day with the person we love the most in a beautiful place doing things that we love. It doesn’t get much better than that.
