Snow Baby (And Dog)

This morning, I woke up to a soft, snowy scene. Not a heavy blanket—just a light dusting that coated the grass like powdered sugar. Madeline woke up soon after, her timing perfect as Alison stayed nestled in for a bit more sleep. I couldn’t resist the chance to bundle Mads up in her new pink snowsuit and introduce her to her very first snowfall.

Tex, ever the snow enthusiast, was right there with us. He bolted outside with his usual excitement but seemed slightly confused about sharing his snowy domain with Madeline. Despite his reservations, he couldn’t resist licking the snowflakes off her tiny face, his little stub wagging furiously with excitement. It was actively snowing, and Mads wasn’t quite sure how she felt about the flakes landing on her cheeks. Most of the time, she kept her eyes tightly shut, but every now and then, she graced us with one of her big, heart-melting smiles.

I found myself completely immersed in the moment, camera in hand, trying to capture this snowy adventure with my baby and my dog. Watching Tex bound around in his element and seeing Madeline’s mix of curiosity and joy was pure magic. These are the moments that stay with you—the simple, unexpected joys of a snowy morning and the precious memories of a first experience shared.

Afterward, we came back inside, and I took off her snowsuit, wrapping her in a big, cozy blanket. She snuggled up in my arms, warm and content, and soon drifted off to sleep. Holding her like that, with the quiet of the snow outside, was the perfect way to spend such a magical morning.
