A Disneyland Day with Skylee

Friday was an exciting day. Skylee had arrived and was ready to go to Disneyland. She slept in our hotel room because we had an extra bed. I rolled over at 5:40am and Skylee woke right up and asked me why I was rolling over. It was fine because I was planning to get up at 5:45am anyway. I turned on the TV for Skylee while Alison and I got ready. Alison helped Skylee get ready to go. We were out the door around 7:15.

We arrived at Disneyland and obtained a wheelchair for Aleene. Skylee was very cute on her way in. We pushed the wheelchair next to Skylee's stroller and Skylee would reach over and hold Aleene's hand. When we got into the park we decided to get a picture with all of us at the front of the park. Rookie mistake. Skylee was not thrilled we were in line for a picture and not a ride. When we got to the front of the line Skylee wanted to take off her coat, but Blake asked her to keep it on (because it was cold) and she melted down. She then proceeded to sabotage the picture. Her leg can be seen peeking out behind Debbie, otherwise, she is not visible.

We headed to Fantasyland next. With the way Skylee was on edge, I thought it was best to get her onto a ride with no line so I suggested that we ride the carousel. This was met with a positive reception. On our way, Skylee decided to attempt to pull the sword out of the stone and we got some adorable pictures. We rode the carousel together - Skylee and Blake rode on the opposite side of the rest of us because Skylee wanted to pick her own horse. After the carousel, we wandered over to Mr. Toad and then Dumbo. We were glad that Dumbo was open because the day before they had a wall around it due to renovations. They completely redid the queue and repainted the ride. Skylee was so cute. She told Aleene that she wanted to ride this ride with grandma-great, grabbed Aleene's hand, and walked with her through the queue. Next up Debbie, Skylee, and I rode the tea cups. We all love this ride and everyone else is not a huge fan. It was fun.

We left fantasyland and headed over to Tomorrowland. We had a fast pass to Space Mountain. Skylee was so excited. She sat next to me. She literally giggled the entire ride and when we are done she turns to me and says, "do you know who was laughing during that ride? Me!" She is the best.

We also rode the Matterhorn, quite a few times, on this day. It was a big deal for Skylee because it was the first time she was tall enough to ride it. We thought she might be a little scared of the Yetis, but she wasn't - She loved it!

We stopped by It’s a Small World. Skylee also rose on this ride with Aleene. It was the cutest. They sat in the front row of the boat and snuggled up. They chatted and pointed out things they liked throughout the ride. While we were waiting in line Skylee wanted a penny to throw in the water. Debbie gave her two. Afterward, Debbie asked her what she wished for. Skylee responded that she made two wishes for a unicorn. Later Debbie found a stuffed unicorn and bought it for her. Skylee loves it and called it Butterfly.

We went across the park and rode on Big Thunder Mountain. Skylee and Aleene, especially love this ride. We also went over to Splash Mountain. This is another one of Skylee's favorite rides. All 6 of us rode together so we filled up a whole log. I sat in the front to try to keep Skylee from getting soaked. This meant I got pretty wet. Fortunately, it was a nice warm day. When we got off the ride Skylee got into line to visit the Winnie the Pooh characters in Pooh Corner. While she was waiting in line she found a leaf that she carried around and showed it to all the characters. While she was in line I went into the Pooh corner shop and bought some cake pops. Disney released some awesome cake pops for Pixar fest and we wanted to try them all. I ate an entire grape soda pin cake pop. It was a delicious grape-flavored cake but was huge and very rich. After this cake pop run, I felt mostly done with treats for the day.

We continued riding more rides until lunch (that was all Skylee wanted to do - no characters, only rides). We ate lunch at one of our favorite Disneyland restaurants - the Plaza Inn. Alison and I each got the chicken meal and shared our meals with Skylee (we also got her chocolate milk). I finished eating lunch first because Alison needed to take a break to take Skylee to the restroom. Since I was done eating I ran over to the Jolly Holiday bakery and bought a rose gold macaron. Alison had seen pictures of this treat and told me she needed to try it. We tried to buy one the day before, but they had sold out for the day so I thought I should see if I could get it earlier today. I was in luck - they still had a few. I brought back a macaron for Alison. As soon as Skylee saw it she asked it if was for her, when Alison said it was she took a big bite. It was awesome. We all shared the macaroon.

After lunch, we rode a few more rides, including Big Thunder Mountain. When we got off Big Thunder Aleene's wheelchair was gone. It was kind of a cluster. They ended up bringing a new one over for her, but I had to wait there for 30 minutes with her while they brought one. They also needed to see proof of purchase, which Blake had. We tried to see if we could take a picture, but they wanted to see the original receipt so he had to run it back to us. Finally, we had the new wheelchair and we were good to go. While I was getting the new wheelchair Alison and the rest of the group went and staked out a spot for the Pixar Play parade. Aleene and I joined them and then I went with Blake to get ice cream for Skylee, Alison, and Aleene. We love watching the parade while we enjoy ice cream. The Pixar Play parade has had some improvements since it moved over to Disneyland. They have added floats for Inside Out and Up. It is really a fun parade. Skylee figured out that we would pretty much buy her anything she wanted so when a guy walked by with a huge thing of balloons for sale she told us she wanted a purple one. I told her I didn't have any cash, and then Debbie pulled out $10 so I could get Skylee a balloon.

Skylee was a little saboteur. She wouldn't look at the camera because we didn't let her hold the Pixar ball prop.
She is much more cooperative when she gets her way.
After the parade Aleene's trip came to an end. Blake and Debbie left the park to take her to the airport. This meant that Alison, Skylee, and I got double fast passes while they were gone. We tried to get her to sleep by taking her on the train, but it was an epic failure. While we were on the train Kristin called and talked to Skylee. Skylee was so excited to tell her all about her day. There was a lady in front of us who was super annoyed that Skylee was talking on the phone and kept shooting us dirty looks. I did not care and couldn't believe someone would try to shame us on the train. It isn't like the train is supposed to be a quiet place.

Skylee found this rock wall in Frontier land and wanted us to take her picture by it.
With double fast passes while Blake and Debbie were taking Aleene to the airport we were able to ride all of our favorite rides with Skylee. It was so much fun and she was so happy.

Shortly after Blake and Debbie got back Skylee hit a wall. She fell asleep in her stroller. Blake hung out with her while Alison, Debbie and I ran around using double fast passes. We got to ride the Matterhorn and then Space Mountain back to back. After these rides, Debbie and Blake took Skylee back to the hotel, while Alison and I stayed and watched the firework show - Together Forever: A Pixar Nighttime Spectacular. It was a good firework show, but it wasn't our favorite. After the show, we got grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup for a very late dinner and called it a night. What a fun day in Disneyland!
