End of May and Early June

The last few weeks have kept us busy. Here is a summary of a few of the things we have been up to:

Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day weekend diverged from our normal tradition of camping in Ephraim/Manti. Alison's parents were leaving on a long international trip right after memorial day. They decided they did not want to camp this year. Alison and I were on board with that decision as we were feeling very jet-lagged after our trip to Japan. We did head down to Ephraim on the Saturday before Memorial Day to visit the Fairview and Ephraim cemeteries. We spent a few hours placing flowers on the graves of loved ones and sharing our memories of them. On our way home Alison and I stopped by the Springville cemetery to visit the grave of my grandma Pat. We also spent some time looking for the grave of my great-grandfather Delbert Johnson (the one who served in WWII). It was hard to stay motivated because we were so tired, but we found his grave and left a flower. We are glad we did and now we know where it is for future years.

Dancing Moose Family Fun Run

We participated in the fun run for Skylee's school. Alison has participated in like every fun run Skylee has done with her school. This is the last one Skylee will do with Dancing Moose because she will be going to a new school next year. It was fun to spend some time with Kristin and Dan and their little family.

Pride

We marched in the SLC Pride parade again this year. This year we marched with Ancestry. There was quite a large group that showed up to the march. This is a special event. It means a lot to Alison and me, as well as other members of her family. It also means a lot of thousands of people who show up because they believe this world would be a better place with a little more love, tolerance, and understanding.

Babysitting our newest niece

We also had the opportunity to babysit our newest niece - Holly. Kristin and Dan took Skylee to see School of Rock at the Eccles Theater. We hung out with Holly while they were at the show. She is such a cute little baby. Babysitting a baby is tough because she is at that stage where she can be unpredictable and get a little fussy. Fortunately, she was pretty great for us and ended up sleeping for most of the time we watched her.

8th Anniversary

We celebrated our 8th Anniversary at the beginning of June. We kept our celebration this year low-key. Alison was out of town on a work trip and I was busy closing the books at work. To celebrate this year we downtown to Temple Square. This has always been an important place in our relationship. We spent an hour or so walking around hand in hand and reminiscing on where we have been and looking forward to where we wanted to go. We love the life we have built together and are looking forward to many countless adventures yet to come.
