More Christmastime Fun

To say that Alison has been looking for any excuse to bake a pie after our last pie baking extravaganza before Thanksgiving would be an understatement. In fact, in might be the understatement of the year. So this last weekend Alison decided to invite Skylee over to learn how to make a lemon meringue pie. Skylee was thrilled with the idea.

Alison taught Skylee every step of making this pie - the crust, the custard, and the meringue topping. Skylee was a diligent student helping with every step. She rolled out the crust, assembled and mixed the custard and put together the meringue topping. Skylee made most of the pie.

There is lots of waiting throughout the pie making process. While were waited for each stage we found fun activities for Skylee to pass the time.

Skylee wrote Santa Claus a letter. Daybreak has a cute little mailbox for letters to the North Pole. Santa will even respond to letters dropped into this mailbox.

We also watched the new Disney+ movie Godmothered while Alison wrapped Christmas presents.

We played a couple of rousing games of Uno Attack.

When the pie was finished we took Skylee back to her house. On our way we stopped and dropped Skylee's letter to Santa in the mailbox. While we were dropping the letter we saw Santa taking pictures with a family in the common area near the mailbox. He looked busy so we decided not to bother him, but Skylee was excited because he was sure to pick up her letter when he was done.

Back at Skylee's house we cut into our pie - it was delicious!
