Winter Fun in SLC

It is the most wonderful time of year. Alison and I have taken advantage of several fun nights in SLC this week.

Last weekend Alison and I had a date night where we saw Moulin Rouge! at the Eccles.

We took Trax downtown and dined at the Coffee Shop at Little America Hotel. We enjoy the coffee shop, but we couldn't remember the last time we ate there. It doesn't ever disappoint - those rolls are so warm and fluffy.

After dinner, we walked to the Eccles Theater for the show. Moulin Rouge was excellent. The show was so high energy and the cast was phenomenal. I am a sucker for a show about an optimist or dreamer. The story is conventional, but the music and the excellent dancing/staging really elevated the show. 10/10 I would recommend it.

A few days later we were watching Skylee and Anna Holly while Kristin and Dan went to see Moulin Rouge! We wanted to take the girls on an adventure. We fed them dinner and then bundled them up in warm clothes and then took Trax downtown.

We took them to the Grand America Hotel. There is a holiday window stroll right now. The window stroll is a series of whimsical windows celebrating holiday traditions from around the world. The stroll is interactive, hidden in each window is Fig, a Utah field mouse. The kids loved learning about holiday traditions and finding Fig hidden in each window.

There is also a giant, and I mean really giant gingerbread house. The girls were quite impressed.

After our stroll, we walked across the street to the Little America Hotel. We visited the toy shop. We bought the girls each a little Ty stuffie. When the cashier wanted to know if they wanted a bag, Skylee didn't want one, but Anna Holly did. She then walked all through the hotel carrying that bag with pride.

We visited the Coffee Shop to get hot chocolates and we decided to get a brownie to share. Skylee was a little worried it would be too small for all four of us, but I assured her if it was small she could have my share. Not to worry it was so big and rich we couldn't even eat the whole thing.

It was fun to have some adventures in Salt Lake City this week.
