A Great Weekend With Good Friends

We had a really good weekend. Alison took a half-day off of work on Friday and we headed to Lagoon. EY was holding a summer party there and sent us tickets. After Disneyland, we were a little amusement parked out, but we still went and had a fun time. Alison was even able to drag me onto the wicked and colossus roller coasters. I have to admit they were kind of fun. The best part of the night was the dinner and visiting with my EY friends. Alison was a trooper and put up with my networking.

On Saturday we slept in. It was so nice. It seems like it has been weeks since we have been able to sleep in. We relaxed and seriously didn't start getting ready for the day until well into the afternoon. On Saturday evening we got together with some of our friends to go hiking. Our friends Kyle and Sarah brought their two little boys, and our buddy John brought two of his friends. We met up at the mouth of Big Cottonwood canyon and carpooled up to the Mill D trailhead. We hiked up to Donut Falls. It was a beautiful evening and the temperature was perfect. We enjoyed strolling through the beauty of the mountains with our friends. It was a nice and easy hike and perfect with the little kids. There was no snow, unlike the last time we tried this hike. Kyle and Sarah's son Jaron was really funny. He is super independent and when we got to parts where he needed help he kept saying, "I can do it." It was so funny. I ended up picking him up and carrying him when we crossed the river, but he totally wanted to do it himself.

When we got up to the falls Kyle and Sarah waited down below with their kids while the rest of us climbed up to the falls. Donut falls is really cool. We climbed underneath and looked at the falls and then we hiked up and looked around above the falls. The whole area is just so beautiful.

On our way back down the kids were getting a little tired. At one point Jaron fell down and some members of our group tried to help him up. He just screamed, "NO DON'T TOUCH ME!" as he jumped up and ran for his dad. Sarah explained that he is so independent he hates falling down, but he hates it, even more, when people help him up.

After our hike, we grabbed some dinner/treats at Shivers. It is this burger and shakes place in Salt Lake. They had great shakes. We had a fun time and after we left we just were so grateful to have good friends.
