A Make-up Skylee Day

We started a tradition where Skylee would have a sleep over at our house on Christmas Adam (December 23). We had big plans for Christmas Adam this year, but they were dashed by Covid. We were focused family members getting tested to make sure everyone was healthy and we could safely gather as a family. Because of the timing of the tests we did not have Skylee sleep over this year.

Instead we scheduled a Skylee sleep over at our house this week. We picked Skylee up on Wednesday evening and headed straight downtown. We had dinner at Tucanos. This used to be one of Alison and my go-to places. It hasn't changed a bit over the years. It was a fine a dinner.

After dinner we took Skylee ice skating at Gallivan Center. It was a cold night, which had Alison second guessing our decision to visit an outdoor rink. Once we were on the ice it was fine. In fact it was a lot of fun. We skated around and had a grand time. It took Skylee a bit to get her bearings, but once she did she could skate around the rink on her own. She would occasionally fall, but she would tell us the ice felt like a pillow because it had a layer of ice shavings that had built up. Ice skating was a fun activity with Skylee.

We then came home and watched Encanto. This is one of Skylee's favorite movies right now. She was especially excited to watch it with us because we have never seen it. She loved narrating a few parts and pointing out the little funny details.

The next morning when Skylee woke up I made her a waffle for breakfast. She watched High School Musical while I was working out. Then we spent the rest of the morning and into the afternoon building the Infinity Gauntlet lego set Alison gave me for Christmas. It was a complicated set.

We had to take a break while I went to do an inventory count of the DNA kits for Ancestry. When I came home we finished building our legos and then we met Kristin, Dan and Anna Holly for dinner. We went to Chili's since Alison and I had a gift card. This is another place Alison and I used to go to all the time, but we haven't been there in ages. It also hasn't really changed - the chips and salsa are the best part.

We are glad we get to spend a little extra time with Skylee around the holidays. We love our niece and can't believe how fast she is growing. She is a great kid.
