Moving

Tex wanted to play while we packed the house

This week Alison and I moved out of our house. Moving made for a hectic week, but all things considered, it wasn't too bad. I didn't think it would be that bad, but Alison thought maybe my unbridled optimism was getting the better of my assessment of the situation. But by the end of the move, she agreed that the move wasn't that bad.

We spent the last few weeks packing our stuff. We sold a lot of our furniture and took a couple of loads to the thrift store. We divided our remaining things into two groups - one group was heading to storage in Alison's brother's basement and the other group was heading to our new apartment. We finished packing the night before our move. We hired movers, The Other Side Movers, and they were fabulous. They got everything moved in just a few hours.

Then Alison and I settled into our apartment. It took a couple of days to get everything unpacked. It also took Tex a minute to get used to the new surroundings. But now we have settled. Our apartment is located in Daybreak so we still take walks by the lake and stop by the site of our future home. We can't wait for it to start. Apartment life is not ideal, but it makes sense for now and will be worth it in the end.
