One of my absolute favorite things about having a little one is diving into all the holiday fun as a family. Even though Madeline is tiny, we’re already going all out for Halloween this year! We decided on a family costume that I can’t wait for everyone to see, but let’s be honest—I couldn’t resist picking up an adorable pumpkin outfit for Mads. How could I not? The minute I saw it, I just knew it was meant to be.
Of course, Tex had to get into the Halloween spirit, too. I chose a ghost costume for him, thinking it would make a hilarious addition to our spooky crew. He wasn’t exactly thrilled about it (let’s say he tolerated it more than he enjoyed it), but he played along like the good boy he is. Watching him dressed as a ghost with a pumpkin basket on his nose while Mads wiggled in her pumpkin suit had us all cracking up—it’s memories like these that make these early days with her even more special.

The best part? This is just the start of all the holiday traditions we’ll get to make together. The idea of introducing her to everything from trick-or-treating to Halloween decorations, and so much more makes me very excited.
One of the highlights of getting Madeline dressed up as a little pumpkin was just how much fun we had together. I was having such a blast that I thought, "Why not take her to an actual pumpkin patch?" I mean, Halloween only comes once a year, so why not go all out, right? But of course, finding a pumpkin patch the Sunday before Halloween was easier said than done.
After a bit of searching, Alison found Kuwahara’s Pumpkin Patch over in Draper, and we decided to make an afternoon of it. Let me tell you—it was so worth it. Kuwahara’s was not only loaded with pumpkins, but they also had all these cool little shops and fantastic Halloween decor that made the place feel magical. It was like stepping into Halloween Town, and Madeline seemed to take it all in, eyes wide and curious.
Naturally, I took about a million pictures of Mads among the pumpkins. The lighting, the colors, her in that pumpkin costume—it was pure Halloween perfection. And apparently, we weren’t the only ones who thought she looked adorable. Everywhere we went, people kept stopping us to comment on how cute she was and asking how old she is. I couldn’t help but feel a little proud, especially seeing her bring so many smiles to people’s faces.
I was absolutely living all of my Halloween dreams, walking around with our baby pumpkin in her element. And even though she might be too young to remember it, I know these are the kinds of memories that I’ll hold onto. Just seeing her light up and sharing these moments as a family makes Halloween feel that much more magical.
I can already tell—this is going to be one of those family traditions we look forward to every single year.
